U10 Lions. A superb cup win for the Lions this weekend decided by a tense penalty shootout that saw our players score all 3 penalties!

The game itself was a great battle with a very good Poulton Vics side with both teams creating opportunities that forced keepers into great saves.

The Lions, though, had the edge throughout and the entire team battled hard without the ball and were slick in attack but thwarted by a very good PV goalkeeper.

It takes a lot of bravery to step up and take a penalty or be the keeper, so huge credit to Joel in goal and our three penalty takers – Seb, Igor and Jude.

POTM trophies went to Reece for a solid defensive performance and Igor for his tireless work up top closing down and spearheading some great attacking moves.

The Lions will play in their first ever Top Cup final in May!

U10 Dragons. The Dragons had a friendly against a team from Blacon that proved to be a great game ending in a draw.

We was unlucky to not get a victory, but the draw came courtesy of a superb strike from the young Blacon player scoring a worldie from quite a distance out!

The Dragons are continuing to improve and the work rate of the team without the ball was hugely improved this week and the result was that they created pressure that lead to us having plenty of chances to put the game to bed.

Stand out performances from Harvey with two goals, Lucca who was tireless in his tackling, Gianluca who is always prepared to put himself on the line and Jacob who never seems to tire!

Onwards and upwards for the Dragons – a team to watch in the second half of the season!

New Ferry Tigers U11s vs Poulton Vics. The Tigers were dominant from the the off, a quality performance which was consistent throughout the game, not allowing the opposition to gain any ground, persistant pressure, disciplined defence, masterful midfield and sensational strikers, for play to  Vics as they kept going until the end but just could not break the Tigers down, with the Tigers keeper only having 3 touches of the ball all game says it all, 1st home win of the season and what a win it was.

Shame the actual result couldn’t  be published.

First win of the season for the U14’s Black’s today. Initially going a goal down in the first half. second half the boys regrouped & turned the game on its head. Birkenhead didn’t get a look in second half. Bailey Woods with a screamer in the top corner, David Hulley with the second. Game finished 1-2 to the Blacks

Our U14s won away at Neston 4-0, a solid defensive performance and we took our chances when they came. Back to back wins for our lads now so starting to build some momentum and looking like a team who have played together for a while after a difficult start to the season.

Great win on Sunday for the U12 Red’s who came out on top coming from 1-0 down against one of the top teams in the league Moreton Argentina. The lads showed true grit & determination to turn the result around to take a 2-1 win.

The U16’s christened their new home kit with a much-needed win on Saturday at Mayfields. After a few difficult results undoubtedly knocking their confidence of late, the lads were eager to get back to playing decent football.

With just 16 seconds on the clock, we found ourselves 1-0 up after Luke capitalised on an error from the West Kirby defence. The quick start set the tone for the rest of the game as the team played some of their best football of the season. Strength and composure at the back combined with some disciplined and dominating performances in midfield allowed New Ferry to gain control and dictate the game.

The second half started much the same, and the lads continued to assert their dominance. West Kirby got back into the game after a lucky bounce from a set piece fell to the feet of their player 5 yards out, who made it 1-1. The New Ferry lads stuck to their game plan and continued as they had all game, carving out chance after chance. A ball from Danny broke the lines, with Evan using his pace to latch onto it and finish brilliantly to put us back in the lead.

We saved the best til last with the goals, as Bobby drilled a superb half-volley from the half way line over the keeper to seal a 3-1 win; a certain goal of the season contender!

An outstanding team performance front to back got us the points today, but some fantastic performances from our MOTM’s Dylan and Luka stood out.

Youth squad were home vs WK Utd Reds in the Semi final. The lads started well giving West kirby no time on the ball, pressing them at every opportunity. Taylor Jones hit a sweet free kick which looked destined for the top corner only to see the west kirby keeper pull off a top draw save. Shortly after this we went behind after over playing from the back & getting caught out. West Kirby’s lead didn’t last long as Joel Foster burst through midfield & smashed one from range onto the top corner. Shortly after it was 2-1, Taylor Jones delivered a corner to the back post where Louie Smith neatly controlled & drilled home. Second half we rode our luck a bit as West kirby applied more pressure. They equalised with 10 mins to go. Meaning the dreaded pens would decide the game. Some minging penalties by both teams saw both teams hit the post & crossbar. Zack also saved what turned out to be the decisive kick. The lads going through to their 2nd final in 3 years winning 3-2
