U10 Dragons
A tough cup defeat for the Dragons today who were knocked out on penalties by Poulton Vics Bayern. The Dragons were the better team for large parts of the game and deserved more goals, but it was an inspired goalkeeping performance for Poulton Vics that limited the Dragons to just the 2 goals. Nonetheless, it was a much improved performance by the team and progress continues to be made.
It was a solid team performance, but a lapse in concentration in the final few minutes allowed PV to get Level and take the game to penalties.
POTM trophies went to Joshua, who was stellar in defence and showed his ability with some excellent build up play from the back earning him an assist. Jack, our goalkeeper, got the second trophy for some great saves during the match but he made some superb penalty saves and was unlucky to be on the losing side. On to the next!
U13 Whites
Today was a 13 Goal Thriller at Station Road,
An away day in the cup to Neston the same side they had an 8 goal battle only a few weeks earlier. Early into the game the Whites playing uphill first some fantastic possession & passing found Cameron who swung in a long but pin point cross to the back post for Frankie to casually pass past the keeper in a calm calculated finish.
At the restart Neston tried to push on and play the long ball that was dealt with by Josh N.
He is becoming the Van dyke in the whites with his vision and cover. Nate who was battling hard played a neat one/two with Archie before he slipped the ball to Baggo Nunez who fired a rocket across goal to make it 0-2 and the lads were on cruise control. The Neston team had other ideas as they managed to fire back with 2 goals in quick succession to even it up. 2-2 with 2 minutes left of the first half. Up pops the player in hot form Josh Sherrat. Pressing from the front he won the ball back in the left corner weaved in & out before he fired the ball goal wards. It took the smallest of deflections but that’s all’s it needed to find the back of the net. 2-3 right on the stroke of half-time.
The second half started with Josh Sherrat playing as a forward & Max playing deeper instantly seeing results with Max great link up play from Max & Owen who played a couple of one/two’s before Max spread the play out to corner where Josh Sherrat cut in beating 3 players with ease and slots in past the near post what a goal to make it 2-4.
Neston again with their tails up tried to force the issue resulting in the long ball being deployed. This with a combination of us losing discipline in midfield Neston hit the long ball and beat Caiden in a 3 on 1 not a lot he could do. 3-4. Calls from Josh (coach) play “your game not there’s” with this the lads all switched on and decided to showcase the talent of the team. Baggo Nunez was on fire today as he powered past 3 players jumped a sliding tackle and nearly ripped the net off with a thunderous strike. 3-5
A big spell of possession started to show the dominance of the Whites. Nate, Archie and Magic Mo were knocking it round like it was pin ball.
Alfie Robbo came into his own and had Neston in a daze with his twist and turns. Neston attempted to target attacking up the left but Jacob dealt with them even when they started to double up he mopped it up calmly playing out from the back. Owen switched a diagonal ball from over the half way to Baggo Nunez who was brought down in the box. Penalty given and up stepped Skipper Max who cooly slotted it home. 4-6
Neston pushed from the restart getting an effort on goal in but Caiden cooly caught the shot to recycle the ball on the left wing with Cameron on the counter who sent in a sweet cross for Magic Mo who met it heading it across goal (What a header!) 4-7
The lads are starting to tire and Neston countered us to make it 5-7.
At the restart the lads played possession football letting the ball do the work. It was obvious that the recent training is paying off as the passing is starting to cut through teams. Our last goal came from a combination of excellent play from Jacob,Josh N, Lennon, Cam, Max with Baggo Nunez applying the finish. 5-8
What a performance from the lads today on a pitch that was long heavy and wet. They held their own played football and gave everything. Big shout to the coaches Ethan and Josh who are really putting 100% effort into the lads training and games it’s making them really play football now
AMOM- Max Total performance today selfless in his play 🏆
HMOM – Baggo Nunez was a handful for the opposition today
