Saturday
U10 Lions played Birkenhead JFC on Saturday in their third fixture of the season and maintained their winning start to the season.
It was a true team performance with every player contributing through their excellent attacking play, but hard work off the ball to prevent Birkenhead ever really getting into the game. Goals came from Igor with a double, Finlay, Frankie, Jude and Seb.
POTM trophies went to Reece for his vision on the ball to create opportunities for his team mates and Joel who had an assured performance in goal.
U10 Dragons were away to Poulton Vics in this Saturday’s fixture, hoping to emulate their brilliant performance last week. The boys started fast, piling the pressure on from the first whistle. After a few missed chances, the pressure told and the goals began to flow. A handful of outstanding saves from Jack and brilliant defending from Josh and Lucca set the tone for the team, leading to some superb attacking football that was rounded off by equally superb finishing from Harvey and Ollie-James, giving the Dragons the lead at the break.
Poulton Vics got themselves back into the game after the half-time break, but tireless work and strong tackles from Caiden, Gianluca, Jacob and Alfie in the midfield allowed the Dragons to regain control of the game.
Another fantastic win for this team as their confidence continues to grow. Tough game to choose just two POTM, but well done Josh and Jack for picking up the trophy this week.
U13’s Whites game today saw the return of 2 ex New Ferry Old boys to Mayfields in Ethan Griffiths and Josh Maylor who have taken the reins of the u13 white team with the manager’s departure 24hrs earlier! The game wasn’t straightforward with a bout of sickness affecting the squad leaving 9 eligible players for the game! Bearing in mind its 11v11 format. The game got under way with the Whites in control pushing Cheshire Vikings back and controlling the game for the first 15 minutes with ease. Josh was an engine that just kept driving the midfield forward constantly switching play and sending the ball into the channel for Cameron to chase turning the right back inside out unleashing shots that rattled the crossbar. Max constantly running at them being a constant threat pushing the limits and getting numerous free kicks, as the only way to control him was to bring him down! Nate-dog was playing at a level not seen before he was on fire running the right wing and constantly putting the vikings on the back foot! Archie Robbo was class breaking up the play and feeding the ball and recycling the play totally class today! Magic Mo playing as a make shift CB was calm and collected winning the challenges and passing out from the back! Owen and Jacob were totally awesome they passed everything from the back won every challenge and we’re a total force! Caiden was great in the sticks today and his shot stopping kept us in the game until the final minutes! Were Vikings hit 2 goals on the counter attack deep into the game.
Everyone deserves MOM as the team give everything today on the pitch!
Game finished NFR 0 – 2 CV
U16’s welcomed Allport Hawks to Mayfields for this weekend’s fixture, looking to get their first 3 points on the board. After a tight opening exchange, New Ferry’s attack began to click. Some brilliant individual play from Evan created chance after chance, but unfortunately we just couldn’t get the finishing touch. The defence stood up well to their tasks as a unit, restricting Allport to chances from set pieces. Brave defending and a header off the line from Hayden kept Allport at bay.
We were made to pay for not converting our earlier chances and the inevitable happened as we conceded from a penalty, taking us into half time 1-0 down.
New Ferry started the second half brightly and continued to create chances. A brilliant solo display from Allport’s goalkeeper preserved their lead, but persistence was the key in today’s game. As Allport began to tire, the boys continued to threaten. Evan converted cooly with his left foot after a great run from deep into the box to bring the game level. The pressure on Allport’s goal continued and Luke bagged the winner after a good ball from Bobby.
Despite not clicking in all departments today, the lads managed to grind out a very important win. A few shouts for POTM today in the defence, but this weeks award went to Evan for a great all-round display.

The Youth team were away vs Wirral Scorpions Red who off the back of their win last week were looking to continue their good start to the season. Early exchanges saw the Ferry on top with some early opportunities. The game was in all honesty was very scrappy though. Pitch conditions contributing to this. Against the run of play at the time Scorps took the lead with their winger popping up unmarked at the back post. Our lads got themselves level just before the break from a free kick. Adam Roberts crossed in. Both Taylor Jones & Jack Cartlidge rising to meet it. Jack with the header at the back post. At the restart the lads continued to plug away. Taking the lead after a Joel Foster recovered possession in midfield playing it forward for Alfie Maybury to slot home (1-2). Scorps pulled another back through poor defending on a corner saw a scramble in the box before being poked home. With the game drawing to a close Ferry scored what they thought was the winner from Jack Cartlidge again racing through to beat the keeper one v one. So it looked like the points were coming back to New Ferry but It wasn’t to be. We gave a soft free kick away 40 yds out. It was all bodies up in the box for Scorps including the keeper. Yes you guessed it. Ball played in and found the Scorps keeper who nodded it home to equalise. 3-3. A difficult pill to swallow and definitely felt like a loss rather than a draw. Especially in the manner we conceded, we just wasn’t ourselves today and like the coaches have been saying all summer at this level if mistakes are made we’ll be lucky if we aren’t punished. We learn and move on though. First point on the board. MOM was Adam Roberts & Jack Cartlidge.

U11’s Blacks Game vs Poulton Athletic Hawks was an end to end affair! With the Rangers playing some lovely football from the back, a very hard fought game in the middle of the park resulted in the Seth and Mason giving us a 2-0 lead, the hesitation in the home defence allowed the Hawks to pull a goal back before half time. A brief drink and talk from coach Sam sent the boys out full of confidence and with some great attacking wing play from Max and Roman gave Mason the chance to extend our lead that he duly took. Then came a great solo run from Tian Starkey from the halfway line, he rounded the keeper to slot home. The Hawks capitalised on a miss kick in the defence get a late goal. A first victory of the season for the U11’s Rangers!!!! M.O.M Roman and Tian! Excellent boys.
U12’s Whites & it was the second time Josh and Ethan took the whites out this weekend with the support of Marc and Tony as they we’re away to Cheshire Vikings at the Delph, The squad was reduced with sickness, injuries and holidays as the 10 man team but ran out 5-1 winners in a game that they controlled from the first minute, Vikings keeper had a mega long kick that caught us out sitting flat footed to go ahead inside 10 mins.
This was their last opportunity, Jacob and Lennon bossed the defence with calm passing playing from the back and really playing well together as a unit. With Pitor playing in the midfield with his strength and determination there was no way past. They held the Vikings at every attack and recycled the ball into attack. Max’s play was so selfless as he covered every blade of glass in both attack and defensive duties. Cameron wasn’t as sharp as usual as the game yesterday exhausted him but he gave a great account using his footwork to find nicely weighted passes in to the channels. Archie Robbo was a different player today getting a couple or warnings for his style of play and upsetting Vikings midfield with his play sending the ball in for Rory time and time again, Alfie Robbo was fully rested and was a handful on the right twisting and turning find the cross and enjoying his football today. The lads were all in there own class today really showcasing the football! But 3 players really stood out In unbelievable performances Caiden hasn’t been in the team long but today his performance in goal really made everyone see what a top keeper he is and even got an assist with a pin point kick!! Alex was on another level and absolutely destroyed them with his passing moving defensive duties and topping it off with a HatTrick!!!! From CDM! He covered the miles today! And finally the Captain Rory put in a performance that sums him up he gave 110% played so well with his hold up play scored 2 absolute class goals was so unlucky not to get a 3rd but a total performance!!
Overall a top performance and a great victory! 2 great MOM performances in Alex and Rory
Got to give a massive shout out to x4 Former New Ferry Players who have all gone though the age groups and have all now taken up coaching positions within the Club. Well done lads.
